Estimator
description & responsibilities
The Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of complete and accurate estimates on Design/Build projects. In addition, this person is responsible for preparing the proposal package, which includes preliminary schedule, clarifications, comprehensive estimates and quantity survey, among other project specific documents. As a key role in our organization, the person inn this role is expected to build effective relationships with team members, external customers, clients. suppliers and subcontractors.
- Responsible for design-build, conceptual and plans/specs estimating
- Analyze project specifications, including but not limited to sketches, blueprints and sample layouts, to determine estimated costs and pricing
- Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate the costs of materials. labor, and equipment required to meet the provisions of the contract
- Solicit and review quotes from vendors. suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting operations with subcontractor procurement
- Work with the operations team throughout the pre-construction process in reviewing plans, specifications and general project requirements
- Detailed knowledge of pricing and costs for materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment for all trade disciplines
- Ability to manage multiple pre-construction projects
- Attend on-site pre-bid proposal conferences and site visits
- Lead and coordinate design team on awarded projects including thorough drawing review
- Builds effective relationships with architects. engineers. subcontractors and client
- Review awarded projects and compare cost on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate
- Performs other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate
Qualifications And Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- 5-10 years of experience as an estimator for a General Contractor or subcontractor: experience in Distribution preferred
- Must possess working knowledge of or demonstrate a willingness to learn how to use the following software applications: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Sketchup, Revit, Bid solicitation software, OnScreen Take Off, Agtek, Viewpoint Field Work Center, HCSS, Procore, and Timberline.

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite

- Possess a strong work ethic
- In-depth knowledge of building practices, systems, and assemblies.
