Assistant Superintendent
Description & Responsibilities
This position is responsible for supporting the Superintendent by assisting in the supervision of all on-site construction for the job site.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of field employees, subcontractors and material vendors to expedite the project schedule.
- Provide input to Superintendent on job site issues or conditions.
- Lead the morale and attitude of the crew.
- Analyze and collect information for reporting purposes and problem resolution.
- Ensure that operations conform to local, state and federal safety laws and regulations.
- Manage the permit and inspection process and attending or conducting regularly scheduled progress meetings.
- Maintain daily progress reporting and paperwork such as daily reports including pictures of work progress, payroll and equipment time reporting for crew, field reports, schedule updates and email correspondence to keep the various people involved with the project informed of important issues.
- Monitor and control material waste.
- Monitor the quality and scheduling of work between the various work trades for each project.
- Proactively anticipate and solve problems that could delay construction.
- Gathers information by observing, receiving and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Participate and speak to entire project team and trade contractors regarding schedule, safety, cleanliness and manpower needs to perform needed activities to successfully deliver the project on time.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with client, designers and inspectors to perform roles and responsibilities from beginning to completion.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Must possess the ability to read and understand project documents, e.g., drawings, specifications, RFI’s, submittals, subcontracts, and the owner agreement terms and conditions specific to your role.
- Must possess the ability to understand project scheduling and cost control.
- Must demonstrate good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies on project plans.
- Must possess management, communication, supervisory and planning skills.
- Must demonstrate willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
- May require performing general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
- May require controlling machines and processes by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. Must be trained in all required safety procedures with all associated certifications.
- Must possess working knowledge of or demonstrate willingness to learn how to use the following software applications: MS Outlook, Word, Adobe Reader/BlueBeam, ProCore and Viewpoint Field Work Center.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for 4+ hour periods of time
